Research
Methodology, standards, and limits
We do not guess from the finished text. We read the process that produced it and check the facts inside it, then issue a signed record that travels with the work.
01Methodology
How a record is established
Detection analyses the finished text and returns a probability score. A record is assembled from six parts, each of which can be examined on its own when the record is challenged.
| Part of the record | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Process timeline | How the work was drafted, revised, and assembled. |
| Authorship match | Stylometric consistency against the author's verified history. |
| AI assistance | Declared use alongside detected machine-assisted segments. |
| Fact verification | Each claim, citation, and reference checked against its source. |
| Human sign-off | The responsible person, named and timestamped. |
| Signature | Cryptographic seal, tamper evident, exportable. |
02Standards and collaborations
Standards set with researchers, not against them
Editorrah's integrity standards are developed with academic integrity researchers, including the vice-president of the European Network for Academic Integrity. Our stylometry and authorship verification research is published and peer reviewed. The engine is our own, not a wrapper on a third-party model.
03Honest limitations
What the record does not claim
| Limit | What it means |
|---|---|
| No single check is proof on its own | The record combines several, and every verified submission strengthens the reference it is checked against. |
| Process evidence needs a capture point | Drafting history exists only for work made where Editorrah can observe the process. |
| An authorship match needs a history | Stylometric consistency is measured against the author's own verified prior work, so the match strengthens as that history grows. |
| Some facts cannot be checked | When a claim, citation, or reference cannot be checked against a source, the record flags it as unverifiable. |
| The record is evidence, not a verdict | A responsible person reviews the record and signs. The decision stays with them. |
No single check is proof on its own. The record combines several, and holds up when challenged.
